Cheese Berlin 2014! Nov 2nd!! At Markthalle Neun!!!

And the cheese goes on… the first Sunday in November was a big day: cheese was reigning high at Markthalle Neun. From 11am till 7pm we’ve been celebrating the third annual Cheese Berlin with old friends such as the Rheingau-Affineur and Fritz Blomeyer, market mongers like Menze and Knippenberg as well as regional producers (Capriolenhof, Pimpinelle, Ogrosen…), and others who had to travel a little longer, from the Allgäu, England, Sweden, Spain…

We’ve been discussing, tasting, and talking shop, and it was of course the perfect opportunity to stock up on excellent, unusual, extraordinary cheese. As if this wasn’t enough, we had a little ceremony on the occasion of the official opening of the Käsestraße Brandenburg (moderated by yours truly). And on top of that, the annual presentation of Weinbund Berlin (which unites ten of the city’s very best wine merchants) also took place on Sunday, just a few steps away in the historic Heeresbäckerei in Köpenicker Straße 16/17 – and we had managed to make it ONE ticket for wine AND cheese!! There’d be so much more now to report, new cheeses to present… – I promise a big cheese-up in December, and in the meantime give you these gorgeous pictures from food photographer Manuel Krug (yes, the one who made the Chinese cookbook shooting such a joyous visual success) – cheerio!
