22.9.13 Slow Food Cheese in Bra/Piedmont: German mountain cheese and Riesling

A pittoresque medieval small town in Piedmont full of cheeses from all over the world – from September 19th until 23rd the Cheese once again turned Bra into a taste of paradise. Even better: for 90 minutes mountain cheese and top Riesling wines from Germany were in the spotlight of a workshop I have been organising and moderating.

As is the case with Slow Food in general and the Cheese (which is taking place every second year, alternating with Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre in Turin every other) in particular, this was an excellent opportunity to reach out to a wide group of people. The ambiance was great, logistics first rate – what else could a cheese lover wish for? We were pouring four of the best dry Rieslings Germany has to offer (generously sponsored by the producers – many thanks to everybody!), from J.B. Becker/Rheingau, Tesch/Nahe, Ruppert-Deginther/Rheinhessen and Fürst/Franken, and experienced six top quality mountain cheeses from Allgäu cheese superman Thomas Breckle (who will open his new Jamei shop in Kempten on October 5th!). A great match which made for much excitement and enlightenment amongst the audience and looked like this:
